A fine art print of my original graphite drawing, Aconar, Observed on the Thirty-Eighth Day.
Wolfsbane, also known as aconite or monkshood, has carried a dark and complicated relationship with wolves for centuries. Its poison was historically used on arrowheads for hunting both men and wolves, giving the plant its enduring name.
This piece imagines Aconar of the Wolfsbane Kin as a vigilant guardian of Banewood. Protective yet misunderstood, he embodies the uneasy relationship between poison and protection, predator and guardian, human and wild.
Woven throughout the drawing are studies of the wolf and wolfsbane, a darkened moon, and symbols of the ancient relationship between poisonous plants, animal familiars, and the untamed world.
Printed on 315 gsm Smooth 100% Cotton Archival paper, enhancing the richness of every detail, while its acid and lignin-free composition is designed to preserve the artwork for generations.
