A museum-quality print of my original graphite drawing, Galyn, Observed on the Second Day.
With its towering stems and bell-shaped flowers, foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) has long existed on the boundary between remedy and poison. The same compounds that make foxglove dangerously toxic when taken incorrectly, can also heal: something capable of strengthening a failing heart can also stop one.
Foxglove has also been deeply entwined with European fairy folklore. Its hanging bells have been imagined as hiding places, gloves, and enchanted adornments of the fairy folk, while the plant itself became associated with places where the boundaries between the ordinary and unseen worlds grow thin.
This piece imagines Galyn of the Foxglove Kin as an observant and questioning inhabitant of Mirebloom, fascinated by the delicate line separating medicine from harm.
Printed on 315 gsm smooth 100% cotton archival paper, enhancing the richness of every detail, while its acid- and lignin-free composition is designed to preserve the artwork for generations.
