Known as the Christmas Rose or Lenten Rose, the black hellebore has long stood at the crossroads of beauty and death. In medieval astrology it was associated with Algol, the infamous "Demon Star," named after the severed head of Medusa, whose gaze was said to bring ruin and transformation. 
 
This piece reimagines the black hellebore as a spectral guardian, entwining botanical studies with symbols of mortality, necromancy, and forgotten myth.
