Threat Creature Study 02 The Red Fingers
Realm: Sporeveil Lair: Rot Nests Classification: Fungal Threat Creature
A museum-quality print of my original graphite drawing, The Red Fingers, Threat Creature Study 02.
Inspired by the Devil's Fingers fungus (Clathrus archeri), this creature takes its name from one of nature's most unsettling organisms. Emerging from an egg-like structure, the fungus unfurls fleshy, finger-like arms coated in dark, spore-bearing slime. Its powerful scent of decaying flesh attracts flies, which unknowingly help disperse its spores.
Those wandering too close may first notice the smell of carrion, an unusual gathering of flies, or red fungal growths emerging from the forest floor. By the time the creature itself becomes visible, the traveller may already have entered its territory.
Printed on 315 gsm smooth 100% cotton archival paper, enhancing the richness of every detail, while its acid- and lignin-free composition is designed to preserve the artwork for generations.
